I am thinking of a kid, I'll say his name is Hakim, who was not able to write out letters, was acting out, would grunt or scream instead of talking, hit and grabbed toys from other kids, basically all the kids agreed he was a kiddie PITA and the parents who volunteered all knew he had issues. He came from a family where English was not the first language at home. Fast forward 2 years later and he is doing great and has lots of friends at school. When you look at his work on the walls you can no longer tell the difference between his work and other kids.
Wondering if your teacher is either serious Old School or a newbie. Or if he is getting pressured to shed kids that might bring down the test scores eventually. Could be the kid needs legitimate IEP and you should think about testing and this is your first sign?

Is there another Threes class at the school? I would ask to be moved. This guy doesn't seem to get normal 3 year old behavior and I imagine has no concept of positive reinforcement.

Would he do better with his twin? It won't hurt them to be together at this young age. Be careful -- you can be expelled for throwing, or a violent act that he did not start. You might want to start looking for a transfer.

It's January. Assuming he has been there since September, the child should be used to the classroom routine. If he is still getting used to it as the OP suggests (not in regards to the break), maybe he does need something less intense schoolnwise at this point.

A bit skeptical here, but just want to toss out that we may not be getting the full story. I have three year olds at my school who are violent towards teachers, staff, and in general full day school is not a good option for them yet. And one parent in particular is in denial about her son and would describe his actions as much more age appropriate. Not saying anyone here is lying, but I am hesitant to jump on the terrible school/ teacher bandwagon just yet.
