I had something like this and ended up being diagnosed with strep, but no flu. My husband had all the same symptoms (sore throat, congestion), but no aches and no low grade fever, and he tested negative to both flu and strep-but was diagnosed with bronchitis. My problems started with aches for a couple of days and then became worse. Wonder if I had gotten more rest if I could have fought it off.

I had this last week. It sucked. I think I did end up getting a very short lived fever though.

I saw a nurse, but he seemed very educated on this topic. He said tamiflu has very strong side effects and is really only useful for elderly, children, or those with compromised immune systems. I didn't push it because he made a lot of sense, I was foggy and not feeling great, and thought if that was the flu, I could manage it. The achiness, while sucky, is nowhere near symptoms of flu that I've had in the past.

Is anyone else experiencing this now? I have had achiness for a week now. Last week I took DD to the pediatrician. She tested positive for strep. I tested negative when I saw a nurse the same day. He didn't test me for flu, saying it doesn't matter because he no longer prescribes Tamiflu. I have my usual energy, no sinus infection, no fever, and have had a few bad achy days and a few with few aches. I'd like to say I'm achy because of a good workout or bad sleep but neither is to blame. Any ideas or anyone else in the same situation?

Anyone else have this now? Sounds very similar to what I have right now. So it's just a random virus? Or maybe Lyme disease? Or strep? I'm going to make another dr appt since now I've had it for over a week.

Keep an eye out. My niece started off with aches then ended up having pneumonia and was not diagnosed right a way. Ended up in the ICU for over a week.

It could come later. My kid kept saying his throat hurt. Had nurse look at it and said doesn't look like strep. two days later we were at doctor and he tested positive for strep.

What is "DD"? I hope she is better, but can't these things just be spelled out?

I'm with all the other posters who had something similar. There is some weird virus going around this year. I was just achy with no fever and zero other symptoms. No cramps, no abdominal pain, no cold symptoms. Nothing. It lasted about two days. Nice to know others had something similar and i am not crazy : )

My friend just called me today with these similar symptoms, his whole body was sore, achy he felt a little tired, no fever but most importantly (matching the statement quoted above), he developed a black eye (bruising around his eye) all by itself?? Also looked like his ears were very red. So the question is:
What is the illness that has manifestations of unusual bruising, sever body aches and no fever?
It seems the statement above looking for bruising which was not induced by a physical act is a direct symptom of a know illness since it seems to be a very odd combination of symptoms.

Just an update. He has a sinus infection, and the ped said that accounts for all of these symptoms. I never would have guessed that the effects can be so widespread.

I think my son has whatever this is now.

He has been getting tired more easily with exercize for the past several days. Almost had a fever at 99.1. His legs, arms, and shoulders are sore. His sinuses are tender and a little stuffy, but it's definitely not a primary issue.

We're going to the doc today to see what the deal is.

Did she spend time outside? I get this when it's cold -- your muscles are sort of clenched from the cold and get sore. Just walking kids to the bus and back is a bear in this weather.
