I hate it, too.

I didn't always hate it, but the older I get the more strongly I feel. The more we learn about the risks, and the more we hear about the ruined lives of former NFL players, I actually feel dirty watching a game. Not to mention the fact that the ratio of actual playing time to total game time is truly ridiculous. A play runs for 15 seconds, then they replay that 3 times, then they go to commercial break. 5 minutes later, they run another 15 second play. Really?

My DH will watch any sport, so he watches football. My boys don't have any real interest in it, thank goodness. We do watch the super bowl each year, more like a cultural event than a sporting one.

My DH and kids are soccer fanatics, but while I don't mind going to soccer games, I don't think it translates well to the screen. For me, watching soccer on TV is very boring. OTOH, I love watching baseball and basketball.

My kids love it. I barely watch it. Not sure how that happened.

I don't think most professional athletes are geniuses, but the guys playing football are particularly trashy, dumb and violent. Most stories I hear about guys beating on their old lady, killing someone, date rape, fighting dogs, etc: FOOTBALL

Most people are not geniuses. You realize of course that these crimes are also committed by thousands of people who don't play football. You don't hear about them because they are not famous.

I love football. Our family grills out, cheers for the redskins, generally has a great time as a family. Our kids play hockey and tae kwon do not football but they still love watching....

Yeah. A popular cheer at a Harvard vs MIT game in my day was that when MIT is losing, the crowds would shout back that they have higher SATs. Yay! MIT isn't Ivy League but their prowess in football fits right in.
