Time to buy a used iPod or iPad to suprise them with. Download little puzzles or games if they won't watch videos.

Agree with having at least 2 little new gifts per child to open.

Benadryl, no lie. Sometimes kids get overtired and go nutty. A little dose of Bennie isn't going to hurt them and will help them acclimate to the time changes.

Candy. Always a little candy.

I agree that the likelihood is that there will be other people on the plane making noise of all ages.

I started flying with my kids internationally when they were 6-7 weeks old. They are now almost 4 and almost2 so I have lots of experience with this. Truthfully, the 3 year old will most likely be fine, but the 20 month old will be tough. Be prepared to get up and do lots of walking with both of them - even if it is just to the bathroom. I'd try getting them to watch the movies and do bring lots of books, stickers etc. Also, do your best to get them to nap as normal.

I think how they fair also depends on their personality. My daughter is (overall) a better flyer than my son.

I've been on flights with great flight attendants and other flyers, I've only had a few people give me a hard time. I think people at least recognize that you are trying and will cut you some slack for that. Remember, everyone who books a flights does so knowing kids could be on it. You have just as much right to be there as they do. Good luck.

Since you are flying to the Middle East, there will be a thousand other kids on the plane acting just like yours -- or worse. You will be fine.
