OP here. Suspicious? Stealing? W.T.H.? What are you talking about?

I closed the estate last summer after all siblings signed off on the final accounting, and sent checks to everyone.

Last month, my sister sent me a certified bank check, along with a card signed by the siblings thanking me for my work.

So that is stealing?

I'm not donating it to charity. We make charitable donations routinely. In fact, I donated a good portion of my inheritance to charity. This money is for me, not charity.

Since you have no debt and your sibling eant uou to spend it on something nice for yourself, A piece of jewelry to commemorate the sentiment is a great idea. Maybe a diamond pendant or a bracelet? Check out the pricescope jewelry forum for ideas. Spa day may be nice but you won't end up with something tangible as a memory.

I'd suggest scheduling a personal shopper appointment at Nordstrom and updating your look with the money. It will make you feel better and I'm sure you desrve to splurge on yourself. Not a penny of this money should go towards a bill as your siblings specifically gave it to you to spend on YOU.

OP here. We have no debt other than our mortgage, and we are on track for retirement and college.

Thank you all for all these ideas. I am inclined to buy a piece of nice jewelry and a weekend away, because I love nice jewelry, and it would be wonderful to get away.
