No, I just prefer not to have a horrific commute into DC across the bridges. Now, if I worked in VA I would definitely live there.
Don't think most would describe the Ballston environs as a "horrific" commute to DC by either drive or metro. You're talking about 4.5 miles to the White House. Even at snail's pace that's a reasonable commute- that's a brisk walk at under 1.5 hours even.
NP here. I live close by there. My commute to DC is either 20 minutes (walk to Ballston and then metro to Farragut), or 20 minutes by car (during rush)/8 minutes by car (off-rush).
HOW HORRIFIC!

The neighborhood is great- top notch. hard to get a decent house with land in this neighborhood for under 900k. Tree lined streets, family friendly and walking distance to Westover. The house totally sucks. The pictures are decieving. The lay out is totally odd, and the marble and decor is HORRIBLE . The basement has very low ceilings yet has this huge marble renovation with a very odd grandious bathroom with huge greek looking gilded tub IN THE BASEMENT, which makes no sense what so ever. They had 2 families renting which can give you a sense for how the house is laid out. I would never ever pay 1 million for it. That said, if you had some cash, the land is probably worth a lot if you want to knock down and start over! yuck.
