OP please don't wait for the tick to be tested. Treat right away before it becomes chronic and for gods sake please watch the documentary you'll thank me

OP, hang in there. The worst thing about Lyme is the hype around it. I'm glad that you had the tick tested, but do watch your toddler carefully. I don't remember the stats anymore, but not everyone gets a rash and the symptoms tend to appear differently in children than adults. Just keep your eyes on it.

This is OP. I did decide to get the tick tested. After talking with the doctor, I didn't think my toddler would be able to convey any of the symptoms besides fever. The bite was on a full head of hair, so I'm not sure if I will be able to see any type of rash either. Fun times.

DS got Lyme. We check for ticks daily here in the Boom Docks of Bethesda. We never saw a tick. He had a very high fever probably a few days after he was bitten. Then 3 weeks later a rash appeared. It was not a classic bull's eye rash at all. I'm thankful that the ped recognized it for what it was. Four weeks of antibiotics later and I hope we're good.

OMG couldn't be further from the truth. You can be anywhere and contract Lyme. Also the poster saying if tick is engorged less than 36 hours risk of transmission is slim is a stupid fool and very very misinformed!! One bite and chances are you're infected with Lyme. If it isn't handled immediacy within the few weeks of initial bite, you WILL contract Lyme or another tick Bourne illness which is generally MUCH worse than Lyme disease.
