I think you would fit in nicely with the OP and her colleague. All 3 of you have a lot in common.
No we don't, because they live in VA. You probably do too. Feeling like the knock-off DC got your panties in a twist PP? Don't worry, you're nothing like us and compared to you, MD rocks out! Every time I see some idiot who drives like an asshole (think going 5 mph in the left lane), or CANNOT parallel park to save their lives, or has a big-ass "Romney Ryan: Believe in America" sticker on thier car, they have VA plates (or it's a tourist from someplace in the Midwest). Sorry you didn't get the memo, but VA is just lame.

I would say the average cookie cutter single family home probably goes for 300-400 k. Personally, I would not want to live there. It is quite boring unless you are an 8 year old child.
Please tell me where to find these in Ashburn. I've been working with a realtor for 6 months and my upper upper limit is 550k and there is nothing. Decent Homes that are right around 500K are snatched up in days, or they have a critical flaw. If I'm going to live in Ashburn, the house better be a nice 2 car garage, not something someone's cat has pissed all over.
I see a good selection of homes over 600K.
OMG- we are at the same situation. My husband and I live in Reston and we want to buy a place in Ashburn around 500k-550k and we can'tfind anything!!!
Why do you want to live in Ashburn? I am not being snarky...I am just curious.

Ashburn is not a new development. I know that the various housing developments in that area are at least 20+ years old. 300 k for a home is also a real lowball estimate. That being said, the really wealthy people do not live in Ashburn but in those several acre estates in Leesburg.

When we got into an argument about our houses, she was saying how great Ashburn is - and by default her house is because "Louden County is the richest county in the country!" I countered (since I read the same damn article) that while Louden may be the richest county, that just means that residents are the highest paid. But Arlington has the most expensive houses. She didn't understand that it matters.
I KNOW, I KNOW. This is completely shallow and I hate myself for even getting into the pissing match with her, but it got me thinking. Does anyone know why Louden is the richest county in the country? I mean, with all the riches in DC, close-in MD and VA, you'd think they would rank higher than some area that includes Ashburn - new houses all built looking exactly the same, no older trees, greenery or anything.
Does anyone know what made Louden county rank the way it did? Is there some secret nook tucked away somewhere in Louden with million dollar homes?
