I'm wishing for a commuter tax on the suburbanites.

Yeah, and they provide a lot of revenue for government employee subsidies just with parking and traffic tickets.

The museums belong to the country, not DC.

I hope you don't work in DC, or your husband. Or visit our museums. Or eat in restaurants. I hate when it's full of VA and MD folk!

+1. She totally deserved that. And FWIW, we DC folks are glad that we finally don't have to go to the suburbs to shop for much any more. That's the only reason I went to NoVa in the first place.

I go to the museums but that's about it. I try and avoid DC as much as possible.

That's good news.

+1 My family thanks you for staying out of our city.

Funny. You replied to that and not the post where I said it was the sheer number of people at the Costco. I've been having to go to a Costco further out if I needed to go later in the week which is a total pain in the ass because my local Costco is just a couple of miles away.

Why would it matter where the people who shop at your Costco live? It's not like the resources are finite or the store sells something geographically specific.

It's just the sheer number of people. My local Costco gets so busy that the only ideal time to shop there is on Mondays and Tuesdays during the day and Wednesday before noon. I can shop those other days but it's overly crowded and check-out lines get so long that it takes 30-40 mintues just to pay for everything.

I had to stop at Costco last night night and I was thrilled to get a spot right away. That never happens at the weekend.

I went opening day and on Friday. Friday was nice, peaceful for Costco with plenty of parking. Would never go on a weekend but then I would never go to any other Costco or trader joes or whole foods on a weekend.

When the one in Wheaton opens that should help. The DC one will be the only one with liquor, and the md ones don't even have beer/wine.

Hopefully that's just because it's the first weekend that it's been open. Should die down soon...

I hope so. We gave up and left.

I dunno ... Isn't the foggy bottom trader joes still insane on the weekends? This may be like anything else slightly good in dc - so crowded as to be useless.
