Italian here also. i think it is cultural. I like 2 Amys because it is the closet to Italian pizza. I can care less about children running around, too used to it it doesn't really bother me, I am there to eat.
Someone above mentioned Sette Osteria, i like that place also. Italian owner.

Pizzeria DaMarco in Bethesda is the closest I've come in the DC area to finding real Italian style pizza. Love it.

Like Two Amys although I do sometimes think the pizza is a little soggy. I like Comet pizza better (although I always have to wait there) but I like the other stuff on two amy's menus...like the olives. Didn't love the Pete's pizza. Fine but sort of ordinary...
Always go to Two Amy's really early or on off hours...

It used to be a lot better than it is now -- now sometimes it is soupy or uncooked in the middle. I go for the Arancini and the arugula salad. There is definitely better pizza to be had in the city.

Pete's Apizza is NOT one of them. I think their pizza is gross. Try getting takeout from Vace in Bethesda or Cleveland Park.

2 Amy's is good for Italian-style pizza. I used to like Sette Osteria a lot but it isn't quite as good as it used to be. I prefer Italian-style pizza and don't really care for the crust of Pete's. It is NOTHING like John's of Bleeker so I don't get everyone comparing it to NY style.

We're in a Menomale and Comet rotation right now. We also do Pete's, Moroni's or Bacchio's when we're feeling more American. If I have a crowd of kids to feed and it is convenient I'll grab Ledo's, but that is pretty infrequent. I would go to 2 Amy's if it were in walking distance, but I really wouldn't do anything else to go there.
