+1 more. Getting that amount of scholarship money and college acceptances for the first ever graduating class speaks of enormous dedication on behalf of the administration and faculty. Latin's head came from NCS---she knows how the college game works and I bet those stats only improve going forward.

+1. High standards are nice and all, but really!! This is Latin's first graduating class EVER. It is a major accomplishment for a brand new charter school. Just hang on and see what evolves. or get the to the suburbs. Whatever.

Every parent who has her heart dead-set on choosing her child's academic career at an Ivy, and is unable to pay for the private school she really wants, would be much happier in the suburbs than in DC. Our child is in Latin's HS. The curriculum is exciting and the teachers are ridiculously smart and motivated. Child receives scrupulous attention. Opportunities abound. HS Latin students made a great showing in last year's city-wide Science Fair; another outstanding student just won a critical language scholarship overseas. We are very happy our child elected to stay on, and looking forward to personalized college counseling down the road. Thanks.

Things change quickly and your information on Latin is old. But if you would like to dig in and be left in the dust, be my guest!

Latin watered their program down, to accommodate lower-performing kids, and that's what's now led to their attrition problem with the better-off kids.
