Power is still on at 5:30pm which means I will have to cook dinner instead of feeding the family PB&J's like I had planned.

If the power goes out, I won't be able to go on to DCUM and check this thread for update!

I fled west to my parent's house and now I feel like I'm missing all the excitement.

The pumpkin pie I bought yesterday is moldy today.

The stress of the storm has caused a giant zit to appear on my face. And the stress of worrying about covering the giant zit on my face if I have to leave the house quickly has caused another zit to start forming.

Is your power out? We have done three loads just to have a full kitchen of clean dishes. I learned my lesson with the derecho...we had a crowd for dinner and I left the dishes for the morning, at which point I was washing by hand...!

You could do like they do in the Second World and make cookies. There is a risk of burning yourself or the cookies.

I worry that I will run out of gas in the 19-gallon tanks of my 2011 SUV before the power comes back on.

SUV has regular outlets and as long as engine is running, I can power up the Apple products so i can watch The Wire, etc and play games. And read books. And tweet.

If you post your location, maybe some nearby humanitarian will deliver some real garlic. It's appalling the conditions that you are forced to live with, and I hope that an angel comes to your rescue!

I agree. I have a sack of garlic my father grew in his garden and would gladly share. (If you let me borrow your wine bottle opener.)

Oh, not only do I have a bottle opener, I have the Rabbit Wine Tool Kit. Which I would gladly trade usage of for some fresh garlic, especially homegrown!
