This is a fantastic idea - boxed milk for coffee! Those little Horizon ones? Where can you buy those, other than Costco?
I think PP is talking about the milk that you don't have to refrigerate - like Parmalat. It's very common in Europe.
PP here -- yes, Parmalat is what I was speaking of, thank you. I bought some during the derecho to have with cereal. The teen complained at first, but after a day, finally gave in and used it. As someone else said, it's with the baking supplies at Giant or Safeway.
Are you talking about the individual cartons, or the liter ones? Once the latter is opened, does it remain shelf-stable?

I assumed they were talking about the shelf stable boxes for kids - Horizon Organic and whatnot. Totally buying some of those before this nonsense goes down because I too can't stand coffee without milk. And I need my coffee! At least if the power goes out I'll still have my gas range and a coffee press.

+1 OMFG. I already had $8K in damage from last year's earthquake/hurricane combo. I can't take any more of this BS.
Didn't your insurance cover it?
Well, since we didn't get earthquake insurance b/c we were advised we didn't need it, not all of it. Guess what we have now? Earthquake insurance! But guess what I do not want again? Interior water damage. And I do not want to deal with claims adjustors or roofing and masonry contractors again.
JUST. SHOOT. ME. NOW.
Earthquake insurance has ridiculously high deductible (similar to a downpayment on a house), making it only useful if the entire home is destroyed.
