My first thought was low blood sugar as well because of the light headed and shaky part. But I suppose some people are thinking more along the lines of just feeling under the weather.

So your mantra is "crash and burn" So unhealthy but yet you know it! shocking.

No, that's not my mantra. But thanks for the lecture, Ma. When I feel shaky, sugar, not salt, cures it. And...it only happens a few times a year, so relax.

Anytime, dear!

Depends why.

If its blood sugar related: protein, sometimes with a complex carb. ie: cheese, nuts, an egg, etc. If I get to the point where I feel like I might gag if I try to eat I'll start with broth or juice first.

If actually ill - diluted juice (small sips), toast or banana with peanut butter. Avoid dairy, acidic or greasy foods, etc.

Either way it helps to start small and slow.

Another cause of being lightheaded is low blood pressure. That happens to me occasionally. I naturally have low blood pressure, and I don't eat very much salt. So when I'm lightheaded, I eat potato chips.

OP - you should see your doctor if this happens often.

Clearly people feel light headed for different reasons. When I feel light headed I need protein and salt. If I were to eat skittles I would completely pass out cold.

Chicken noodle soup. Salt, carbs, protein, and water will help with the shakes.

And hot food is always better than cold food.

Skittles. I know it's bad, but I crave the sugar rush.
