It is no different than the mom who drops her kid while carrying a laundry basket in one arm and kid in the other arm (yes, I did hear of someone who did this). Or the nanny who accidentally closes the door on the kid's fast fingers.
Many places have proper training, responsible leaders, loving teachers, but mistakes will happen. We can all expect that we learn from mistakes and always strive to do better as people, whether at home, school, or anywhere else.
It IS different. Because although I have indeed closed a door on DC's fingers, I have never, and would never, forget her and leave her somewhere. Also, the former results in a bad injury, but no possibility of abduction, abuse, or death, like the latter.

Just like most parents have accidentally left their kid somewhere at some point, I am sure that this happens a couple times a year in most cities.
Whoa, I highly doubt that "most parents" have accidentally left their kid somewhere. I've never done that and I can fairly guarantee that I never will.
Don't most of you have stories about the time your parents forgot you somewhere? Mixed up about who you were with type scenario?
