I don't understand the hypocrisy of supporting the Democratic party because they supposedly care about their welfare Vs. spewing their own ignorant racial assumptions that Republicans are racist, redneck, KKK card carrying members. Basically, blacks don't want to be judge by their skin color but the content of their character. Because a white person, who lets be real, only has 2 choices to make, chooses the party they are more aligned with. Are there no rich Democrats? No racist democrats? WTF?? Personally, I think the Democratic party is taking advantage of African-Americans. Why should they go out of their way to improve your existence when blindly they are supported by almost 97% of A-A's. Also, besides the ignorant Neo-Nazi white supremacists....there are level headed, worried, white men who are afraid, not of blacks, but of the liberties the Federal Government takes on all folks. Goverment is not meant to hold the powers it does these days in a democratic soceity. I guarantee if Dems lost the black vote, they would get off their ass and work harder to earn your votes instead of smiling as they suppress you. I looked up this site because I thought it was encouraging, not that Blacks are becoming Repubs, but that they have seen that the Democratic party isn't for them and didn't conform to some racial code. Good day all.
Of course there are decent, not racist Republicans. But your party does precious little to discourage them. The treatment of Obama, on a racial level, by rank and file Republicans has only clarified for many that the party has far too many people who hate them.
And you have to admit, the party has lots of policies that while understandable are not in the interest of blacks. For instance, the party opposes affirmative action. Blacks benefit from affirmative action. Blacks face higher unemployment and the party fought the extension of unemployment benefits. Republicans oppose DC statehood. Do you realize that the Republican party in Florida recently abolished early voting on Sunday. Why? Because it was common for blacks to vote on Sunday after church.
If the Republican party wants the black vote, it has to demonstrate that it is looking out for them.
