Well my agency granted 59 early dismissal but I put in an 11 hour day. And come to think of it I routinely put in 10-11 hour days and I DO NOT GET PAID for it. Does that make you feel any better? For those who take off early I (and many other feds) make up for your loss in tax dollars by working 50-60 hour weeks ALL OF THE TIME and do not get overtime pay, a bonus, or even much of a raise.
Yeah, I work in the private sector, work 10 - 11 hour days all the time (and do not get on DCUM / surf the net while working) and do not get paid for it, either. No bonuses and our firm has only provided cost of living raises once in the last three years (news flash - we're in a recession. Be thankful you have a job). Most of us in the private sector don't get Columbus Day off ....
And what with all these feds posting about extra time off before every holiday??!! Isn't a paid holiday sufficient? You need MORE time off - then USE YOUR F-ING LEAVE!!!
