The Arts District is just the neighborhood- it straddles Rte 1 on an East and West side. Immediately adjacent on the West side is the Historic District. The East side is bordered by Riverdale-University Park

I'm 9:51 - we've moved around in this general area a couple of times. We bought in Berwyn Heights - put offers on houses in 2 other neighborhoods (CP Woods, Hyattsville) but got outbid on one and the other fell apart when it turned out the owner had oodles of undisclosed liens. Obviously we felt good enough about each neighborhood to put down roots. We looked in Greenbelt too, but couldn't find anything at the time, though we'd have been happy if we had. We love the area and we've encouraged fellow faculty members to consider it. Those with kids always bring up the schools as a dealbreaker.

12:00 here, Also meant to note that all of us are watching closely the developments of this middle school and eventually a high school (from what the documents stated).

We are in the Arts District Hyattsville neighborhood. It's wonderful, safe, neighbors are fantastic. Neighborhood is a mix of professionals (government, engineers, architects, etc) and a few SAHMs. We get together often, moms outside nearly every afternoon with young children playing. We're walking distance to restaurants and organic market as well as parks. Our child isn't yet old enough for school, but we plan to send to Hyattsville Elementary. We are hopeful the new middle school will be up and running. Or we'll do the lottery or TAG. Not too worried, the neighborhood is rapidly improving and in a few years we'll have better insight. In the meantime many of us in ADH volunteer at the elementary school to meet teachers, see what it's like, and overall improve the community.
