I wouldn't have to come here for info if the directors would tell us what happened. And you clearly don't know much about a death investigation in DC if you think MPD is going to tell us anything. There is a meeting tonight where I am hoping to get some answers.

I don't find it odd at all that people would come here looking for information. I doubt that anyone takes what is said on any anonymous forum as gospel, but this forum is very active and news tends to get posted straightaway, which means it's easy to check on here for information.

I think it's odd that some posters are so up in arms about this even being discussed. It is a tragedy, and it is awful. No one disagrees on that. But why can't it be posted about and discussed? I don't see anyone being disrespectful thus far.

Well the OP is clearly not a parent at the center, she is asking out of simple curiosity. If you are a parent at the center, ask the directors, ask the licensing agency, ask the police. Anything you read on an anonymous message board should be taken with a grain of salt, and I find it very odd that you would come here searching for answers.

I'm a parent at the center and I have been searching these sites to find out more info. I had been told the basics (that the child was found unresponsive and did not survive), but I was not told that the licensing board cleared the center - and based on what I know about these things I find it unlikely that they would have completed a full investigation that quickly. All I was told is that the investigation by the police and other agencies is ongoing and awaiting the autopsy results. I think it is the responsible thing to do as a parent to try to find out as much information about this as possible so that we know what the potential risks are to our child. I have been at the center for over a year and absolutely love and trust the staff, but when something like this happens you want to make sure your trust has not been misplaced. I don't see how that is tacky or unsympathetic to the parents situation.

What if you are considering the center and are not yet a parent of a child there? I never thought to ask every center if a death had occurred, but I guess I should.

Wouldn't you want to know if there was a death at the center where your child was being cared for, regardless of the reason?

Clearly the parents of the other kids in that center DO know, as one of them posted above.

People, debating who is right and wrong on posting this is accomplishing nothing and is really tacky. If you don't have something kind and supportive to say about the tragedy, it seems pointless to post.

The center does not need to be held liable for the centers name to be released.

'm sure there was a lot of support, but there's a huge difference between an anonymous message board and on online community like MOTH. And there have been messages on DCUM that have also provoked outpourings of support, which appear heartfelt and genuine.
