Really?? This vest is NOT hip.
Anonymous wrote:I find this thread totally depressing. I just turned 40 and don't feel a day older than 30. I'm healthy, fit and have young kids..... I wear whatever the heck I want to wear. If I want to wear skinny jeans I wear them, if I want to wear something low cut, who cares? If I feel fat and just want to wear a big Tshirt and sweats, I do. Why do you need to find a different wardrobe to TRY TO stay hip just because you aRe 40+? Just be yourself and where what looks good on you and/or whatever goes with your mood. I did this when I was 20 and I do this now that I'm 40. Just love yourself and don't worry about what others think.

A good place to look for ideas is Nordstrom's "Complete Looks" Page: http://shop.nordstrom.com/c/womens-complete-looks?origin=leftnav. You'll notice that on the left side, you can select different kinds of looks based on whether you're more classic, trendy, etc., and by occasion. This was helpful to me to develop an eye for proportion, and what items look good together. You obviously don't need to buy the items there!
Also, another helpful principle - which can be observed in any fashion magazine, website, wherever - is that if you wear a trendy/edgy item, always pair it with more classic items.
