Yes, I was saddened, too, that Reagan and W both increased the deficit so greatly. Do you think Paul Ryan regrets having voted for all those budget busters during the W years?Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Clint Eastwood is representative of many in the GOP. In fact, we're saddened that our America is changing so much in a way that will leave crushing debt for our children and grandchildren.

You would still say they were crazy! I suppose you couldn't use agism on them as in, "it is just crazy old Clint..."
Why did you mention Drew Carey twice?![]()
The reason Clint Eastwod was chosen is simple - he's familiar to the target audience. I hate to sound 'elitist', but I don't think many Republican voters would know who Gary Sinise is.
Anonymous wrote:It is interesting to me that Clint Eastwood, the great patriotic American, is horribly disrespectful to the President of the United States at the Republican Natl Convention in front of millions, and this is seen as fine. Any Republicans out there want to weigh in on this? Justify it? Run from it? Oh well, I guess it is OK if Obama is President since he is a Kenyan-born, Muslim, Communist, Anti-colonialist. . He is not a "real" American.

Oh yeah, Drew Carey would have definitely been funnier and more interesting.Anonymous wrote:Suppose it would have been more interesting if it was delivered by any one of the following instead: Gary Sinise, Alice Cooper, Drew Carey, Angie Harmon, Drew Carey or Patricia Heaton.

How does that make their opinion more important or more valid than anyone else's? He doesn't deserve any more than anyone else - he gets one vote just like everyone else. Just because he used to act, I'm supposed to care what he has to say on this issue? I don't think so. (And yes, this goes for the celebrities that either party uses in this way.)
Celebrities are used to attract attention in politics, the same way they're used to hawk purses. Or shoes. Or yogurt.
Although, I agree, it's one thing when Brooke Shields 'endorses' Lazy-Boy furniture, and it's another when Clint Eastwood starts babbling about politics.
