VCU comes close, but it's too big to meet OP's criteria.

Most US colleges and universities aren't as diverse as suburban DC high schools. The OP will figure that out soon enough if she hasn't already.

Fits for size: 19,000 students
But diversity? Not so much. Students 75% white. Faculty 81% white.

Is Swat short for Swathmore? Doesn't sound like OP's daughter has anywhere near the academic credentials to get in there, unless they really dip for minority applicants.

Yes; ah i didn't read through the thread that much. They do dip slightly but not much. Cheers.

I'd rather go to a suburban school that's close to a major city or two than a school in a mid-size city that's remote and cold. I guess you could take trips to Toronto.

I hate to break it to you but U of Rochester is not in the same category as Syruacuse, Rutgers-Newark, or Drexel. It is probably more of a reach. Have you looked at their admissions statistics?

I agree with you. But why do people want to go to school in Rochester?

It's a good school and campus life is not completely dead. You can avoid much of the cold and snow with the use of the tunnels.

A lot of the schools get diversity points for Asian students (see, e.g., CMU -- a great school but it looks like the "diversity" of TJ). Pitt, on the other hand, gets its diversity from AA. And it's in a very ethnically diverse urban location. My mixed race nephew loves it there and feels right at home. But, like with all colleges, you really need to check them out in person while school is in session. I know it's easier said than done; I have a HS junior and am going through the search for the 3rd time.

William & Mary isn't that diverse.
