You also may wish to consider new Danish brands as they tend to adhere to the aesthetic as well. Hay is out of Denmark. Herman Miller, the parent company of Design within Reach, just bought a stake in Hay this year. Hay also did a nice collaboration with IKEA.
Menu is another Danish brand as well.

You've received a lot of good suggestions. I want to second that you should be looking at estatesales.net every week.
Unfortunately, you've missed a few really good MCM sales within the past two months and I don't see any specifically listed MCM for this area this weekend … but I'm sure some will come around. It is one of those things that you'll have to get into the habit of looking at, usually on a Wednesday or Thursday, so that you can see if anything is coming up.
The nice part is that the pictures show what is there. The bad part is that you'll have to go check it out in person to get a price. When you're at the sales, you may also make contact with people looking for similar furnishings and they may have some advice for you, too!

Our house is predominately mid-century (including the architecture!), with some "background" pieces from Crate and Barrel/CB2 and Ikea mixed in.
Following other PP's, I'd advise visiting some local stores (IMO Modern Mobler in Brightwood/Takoma has the best quality and presentation of pieces, albeit with prices to suit) and really get an understanding of the different types of MCM... Also, think about how much you're willing to spend in a "big picture" way rather than by piece- sometimes you'll get a killer deal on CL or at an estate sale, and other times you'll fall in love with something at a pricey vintage store; let those experiences balance each other out and you'll enjoy the process of collecting much more.

Mid mod wood tones go with the orangey oak floors not the dark hardwood. Narrow plank oak. Mid mod also looks great with concrete flooring. Also check estate sales.
