I back in at work because the parking garage is extremely full and the attendents double park cars on the other side of the lane. So when I leave, I have to do a 55 pt turn to get my van out of my space (which I can do in 1 maneuver.) If I back in (when no one in there yet), I can just drive off.

I generally only back in when i know it's going to be tougher to get out of the spot, i.e. at wolftrap where i need to pull into a line of traffic (its going to be faster to get out of the spot in that case). But did you ever consider that people are taking up 2 spots on purpose so no one will park next to them? Has nothing to do with backing in?

NP here. I back into the spaces at my work parking garage because it is a heck of a lot easier with all the plyons. My big car is a minivan and I drive it because it is the only thing that fits my bazillion car seats. Am I entitled? Selfish? Get over yourself.

It's easier to get properly aligned in a tight space by backing in.

I always back into a space where children are known to frequent. They are fast and can't be seen without a camera when they are standing right behind a car.

I doesn't take more than a few seconds longer than pulling into a space.

Backing in is not a skill possessed by everyone. I used to drive for a living and am quite proficient at it.

It's safer because you can see items I front of you (carts, kids, bikes).

He backed his big ass suv into a corner spot with median on the side and bushes in the back. So he pushed the cart into another spot that opened up, pulled his car out, parked in the lane to load up
