Again, thanks to everyone for your thoughtful suggestions. As a new mom-to-be, I can't wait to try all of the places that I couldnt fit onto the list! The piece will run in Arlington Magazine in November and I look forward to your feedback!

Usually we do counter service with the kids because waiting for food can be a little risky with a 2- and 4-year old. For counter service, we like Pete's New Haven Pizza and Rabbit, both in Clarendon, a lot.

For sit-down restaurants our kids and we like the food at Rustico in Ballston, Fireworks Pizza at Courthouse, and Dogfish Tavern in Falls Church.

i'm a foodie, but my 3 year old, sadly, is not. i also wasn't when i was 3. took me a couple decades to get there.

So he really will only eat chicken tenders? Or would he eat relatively plain chicken breast (swarma, soulvaki, etc) from one of the several Mediterranean mentioned already? There are some great basic foods at some of the restaurants mentioned -- not just that standard kid menu fare.

Applause, applause. But I'm on the lookout for above averages restaurants for adults that also serve good chicken tenders. Just discovered the Palm in Tysons is a decent compromise. But I'm still looking for places less expensive than the Palm.
