Romney has 8 houses. He can pick and choose.

If Romney can cleverly use loopholes why can't the rest of us?

New poster here: My children are currently watched at their grandparents' home every day, and have been for the past 3 years. When y DD starts kindergarten, it would be much easier to have her in their school district. Is that chaetaing or scamming the system?

My friend moved from the county mid-year and used an alternate address for their residency. The school found close to the end of the year and they prorated tuition for the time they were not residents of the county. Ignorance really pissed me off.

That isn't a COSA situation, it's flat out cheating the system. Of course they would pay in this situation. They should be attending school in another county.

A friend of ours is so called "renting" at his friend's place so that his son can attend a better school. Not much is needed to prove that he resides there. He showed them a bogus lease agreement. So if you want it badly enough it can be done!

Did you not read the post. The individual referenced was no longer in jurisdiction. There was no issue when the family lived in the county. The problem happened when they moved to a neighboring county and continued to send their children to Fairfax County schools which they were no longer supporting with their tax dollars.

DCUM's and their idiotic "provide "proof" comments. Do a little research. There is a difference between what happens when people try to scam the system within jurisdictions and when they try to scam the system between jurisdictions.

Did you not read the flow of this thread. It was posted :

"Lying about an address within the county is not punishable by a fine"

The response was:
"Absolutely untrue in Fairfax County. My friend (my best friend so I know what I am talking about) was hit it thousands of dollars of fines/tuition"

So clearly the rebuttal to within county was countered with not true... until the poster clarifies I'm taking it at face value.

How can I easily determine if school is at capacity or not?

She asked the school counselor to help her find a new placement but you can call the office - school offices are staffed in the summer.

Absolutely untrue in Fairfax County. My friend (my best friend so I know what I am talking about) was hit it thousands of dollars of fines/tuition--whatever you want to call it. She no longer lived in the jurisdiction and was required to pay for the time after she left. The told her if she wanted to continue and finish out the school year she would would be required to pay for the remainder of the year also.

No, above poster. Your best friend was fined because she did not reside IN Fairfax County. County residents pay taxes that support county students attending county schools. The post you quoted refers to lying about an address WITHIN the county. If you live in Fairfax County and lie about your address within Fairfax County, you could be sent back to your base school-- the one in the neighborhood where you actually reside. You will not be fined or charged a tuition.

There are spot check visits on minority family's kid's houses. It happened to us in Ward 3 and we are a family with biracial kids.
