I think feelings like these (which yes, we all have) are why most people end up LOVING being grandparents. "Being in the moment", especially with a baby, has been (at least for me) monumentally difficult.

Because of this, when I'm cuddling my baby and trying to hard to "enjoy", I often think how excited I will be if/when she has kids and I can get my hands on them. How weird is that?

You've turned your life upside down for them and sacrificed your body and they are just not grateful. They take and take and take and never give back. But then.... at around 8 weeks, that kid suddenly smiles at you and it isn't gas and then you realize he/she actually LIKES you. That's the point when it got easier for me.Also, let go of any expectations you have.

OP, I love my little girl and by far, she is the easiest baby but I will say if anyone had told me what motherhood really is about, I would gladly have opted out.

I can be responsible for myself, if my life sucks or something bad happens, it's just me, I can deal but being responsible for someone else makes me feel like I will be exposed for just how incompetent and clueless I am.
