Anyway, I used to work out that way- nothing is all that convenient, but after hearing so many recommendations for the Italian Store, I'm going to check it out- and I'm not the OP!

Oh my gosh, someone I just met last week was telling me about this place in St. Louis (another of "America's Coolest Playgrounds" as listed in the link above). How cool. It does look like a really interesting place to visit. She told me that adults can do it too in the evenings (?).
Ok, sorry, thread hijack over. . .

I would be OK with a parking fee for all people using the lot. Something nominal - $2 or such - if there are costs to be defrayed for the park. I don't want to be charged when I go to Glen Echo, or Cabin John Regional Park, or anywhere else around here.
Burke Lake charges out of county residents what's wrong with that? Everyone already pays to use the carousel

Clemyjontri Park, located at 6317 Georgetown Pike in McLean, is one of the first large-scale parks in the United States specifically planned and built so children with and without disabilities can play side-by-side.
It has a two-acre playground with carousel where children who use wheelchairs, walkers or braces, or who have sensory or developmental disabilities can enjoy a complete and unrestricted playground experience.
Use of the park has exceeded all expectations with nearly 200,000 children and adults visiting Clemyjontri each year.
The resulting wear and tear on the park and its unique play equipment and surfacing material require continuing and expensive maintenance and repairs.
On any given day there are many out of state licensed vehicles parked in the parking lot (often the ratio is (1/4 to 1/2 out of state license plates).
Fairfax county residents are in one way or another paying for maintenance through county taxes but out of county residents are using the park without compensating Fairfax County.
To assist with funding for maintenance, out of county residents should pay a fee to enter the park. Such fees are already being charged at other Fairfax County parks such as Burke Lake.
If the park continues to be over used and worn out without adequate money towards maintenance and repairs, the park could deteriorate and eventually parts of it may shut down due to safety concerns resulting from a lack of adequate maintenance.
Before everyone labels me a terrorist against the disabled the majority of out of state users are NOT disabled. A waiver could be granted for the disabled.
Is this recommendation supported by the FFX Park Authority? Are they projecting a funding shortage re: the park?
