I can only speak for my experience of a healthy baby I was planning to have at home but ended up having in the hospital: For a home birth, McLean Peds wants to see the baby within 48 hours of the birth and then again at 1 week (they like to get a call from the midwife on how baby's doing within a few hours of the birth). For a hospital birth, Dr Evars was there within 24 hours and came at least 2 more times during our 5 day stay - I was grateful for his presence and he got the hospital Drs to back off the unnecessary repeat tests.
Thank you. Did you make an appointment before baby was delivered to establish yourself as a patient? And then called from the hospital?
