Induced 7 pm on a Monday night, had my baby at 4:57 pm the next day. It was actually quite simple and no problems.

Another one induced at 0 dilation and 0 effacement, with twins at 38 weeks per OB, which I agreed to since I didn't know any better at the time and was sick of being hugely pregnant. Checked in at noon Thurs, cytotec twice that afternoon and evening, started pitocin in the morning and ramped up all day, they broke my water in the afternoon, I never dilated past 4 cm, had C-section at 9:30 PM Friday.

I really wish I had educated myself before and refused that induction. They measured the babies at over 7 lbs each by ultrasound and said "Oh, they are ready!" but one of mine was only 5 lb 2 oz at birth, baby A had not dropped at all (hence no dilation), and I think they simply weren't ready yet. The doctors were wrong about everything.

I would only agree to an induction for a very specific, life-threatening medical condition.

Dilated less than 1cm with my first at 39 weeks when my water broke at 6:30am.

Wen to hospital, they started pitocin.

I waited as long as I could for the epi, because it can slow down labor. I didn't do any research before the delivery so I just laid in bed and tried to deal with the contractions (BAAAD IDEA!). Five hours later, and about 6 cm dilated, I got the epi when I was too exhausted. Got to sleep lightly for 1/2 hr after that.

WIthin 2 hours I had dilated completely and pushed for literally 10 min to have my baby.

Lessons learned: Tell them to go light on the epidural. I couldn't feel anything below the waist with baby #1. With baby #2 (no induction needed, 10 hrs of labor at home before hospital), my epi still allowed me to feel pressure and walk soon after, and it was much better.

Wait as long as you can before getting the epi. If you do it too soon, it might slow down labor.
