Really I think you are taking this way out of hand, I mean my 14 year old son went there and he had fun, and times change and you have to accept it, how are you glad your son stayed home when he is 13 and playing Xbox, he is an outcast and he is a kid who wants to have fun, as I said times change and so does the way they spend their time, I know my kid came pretty happy from the party because he thought it was really fun, grinding is the new way of dancing, and I can't say I like it, but I will accept it, and if the girls were kind of slutty it's not our fault, they will change if they see they are not succesful in life, about the dress code, you want a dress code put it yourself restrict the way your daughter dresses. I'm not gonna do it because that's a normal activity for their age, I know the first time I kissed a girl was when I was 14 and in a party, they are raging hormones, they are going through puberty, and what do you think is better, that you r son jerks it everyday, or that he goes to parties and grinds girls and kisses them, because I can assure you that your son or daughter IS involved in some kind of minor sexual activity like grinding, kissing, touching, and jerking, sorry for the harsh language but I feel it's true!!


Go do your homework, kid.

Heh, I haven't seen the pictures, but I can say that I did much worse at 14 than "grind" dance, and somehow survived to a successful adulthood relatively unscarred. The key is not so much freaking out at what kids are doing (when it is not within the realm of imminently dangerous) but discussing it with them & doing what you can to instill values. Because 14 is not too far from 18, and then there's nothing left to do. I think this country has a really warped attitude of promoting teen sexuality & skankiness on the one hand, and then having this terrified puritanical attitude on the other.

Kids do buy their own outfits with their own money, especially in an area like DC where you can take the metro (or the bus) to the mall and back after school or on weekends. And they carry bags and change into or out of clothing when they can. We did 20 years ago in a much more car-dependent area, even in middle school, so I'm sure kids today can figure it out.

I teach high school and have chapperoned a few dances. First, we have a rule "No four on the floor" which means, you cannot have both feet and hands on the floor. This is a popular way that girls dance now.

I swear, just by watching them dance, I thought I was going to get pregnant.

however, I think it is good that Rockville is holding this event. It gives them SOMETHING to do in a setting where there isn't drinking, drugs, etc. Don't you all remember what it was like to be 15? Remember complaining how there was nothing to do?

The outfits are skankarific, but blame the parents. Didn't they see their kid walk out that evening?

This is obviously the facebook site of an event photographer and it is nothing compared to teens albums on facebook. Yes I've seen some by looking on my kid's facebook. I see no hard liquor, no drugs, no beer pong and piles of natty like cans. Also see no make out [old term for hook-ups] in the photos. See no girls fondling their boobs or flashing for the camera and no one passed out. Saw no comments about weed or coke.

Yesterday I saw a new facebook photo of a 3 teens with one passed out and piles of beer cans and red cups. One idiot was arrested this year ........over 18. This event brought up be the OP was/is calmer than the HS dances and proms [kids passed out, vomiting, roughing up dates].

haha! I have two kids, thank you. I just don't see what the big deal is. This is what teenagers are like. I thought there was going to be drinking involved or something illegal. They're just dancing!
