Parents are happy with Forest Knolls ES, the neighborhoods which feed it are South Four Corners and Northwood and Forest Knolls. Plenty of houses under 400K. It is part of the DCC.

Are the schools in Rockville any better than those in the DCC area of Silver Spring? Especially would be interested in a comparison of Blair and Richard Montgomery (yes, I know I can look at their stats online).

OP, totally agree with PP. Lifetime Montgomery County resident here and the PP is right. Einstein will not be a fit for you if you are not fond of Blair. Stick with the Rockville, Derwood, Olney suggestions.

Absolutely agree with Homewood and Kensington Heights parts of Kensington. Oakland Terrace is already a great school but will have half as many kids this fall when the DCC 29 new school opens and it will be awesome. We love where we live, walk to school, walk to Kensington and MARC, very close to Forest Glen and Wheaton metro, the mall, etc.

Op, have you looked in 20895? The parts of Kensington that feed in to Oakland Terrwce. Homewood is a great neighborhood with a family feel. Kensington heights as well.

If your kids are nerdy and you're a semi helicopter parent, any of the MC schools should be fine. If not, stick to west of 270.

Check out Olney Mill, Tanterra, Brookeville Knolls for affordable SFH in Olney/Brookeville (zips 20832 and 20833). Most of Olney Mill feeds into Belmont Elem. The Brookeville neighborhoods feed into Greenwood. Both are excellent elems. The MS is Rosa Parks and the HS is Sherwood. These neighborhoods are some of the best kept secrets in MoCo. Affordable homes, large lots, family-friendly neighborhoods, and excellent schools. The commute to DC is tolerable (many of us do it). Very active PTAs and the schools. Great sports and activities, and a small town feel. Google Olney Days, our annual parade and a weekend of family-friendly activities (like a small town would have). We have the annual picnic coming up as well. Excellent quality of life --- so glad we bit the bullet and moved out here.

Clarksburg!!! I love it here and the schools are decent. Home prices decent. Commute... hellish unless you are hauling ass down the 270 before 6:00am

I recently stumbled across Damascus and the burg right next to it on Md. 27 -- think it begins with a 'C'? Anyway, it was adorable! and I'd love to live up there if I didn't have to commute anywhere. The elementary schools seems sweet and small.

I smell a sock puppet, 20:20. Relax about Blair. OP notes the reason they are skeptical of Blair including family members who have attended the school and friends who've given negative feedback about Blair. What other evidence does the OP need? But you like Blair, great! Let it go.

You might want to look at Randolph Hills, which goes to Viers Mill Elementary and is part of DCC. Can find houses under $400K. Viers Mill gets a 10 on Great Schools. The high school is Wheaton, though.
Don't have time to pull up houses, but if you go look on Homes Database look for 20852 zip, Troy Rd. or Macon Rd. or Timber Lane.
