Did discuss with the AART who firstly asked me outright if I had preppped my child and she does not have the right to ask that, she did 1 project with them and they had to present to her and she said that my child did not give her the answers needed for that project, that although my child is above grade level in reading she is not in Maths which my child gets Gs for (so do you have to be above grade level in all subjects to be in the AAP?), she mentioned that my child is quite motivated but still gave her a 1 out f 4 for the scale, as for her creativity that they overlooked as we also made them aware of how creative she is at home which they obviously do not believe us , she is constantly making paper models of cubes shapes, crafts etc....(we sent these to the school) They also overlooked another presentation that my child talk in class and which her teacher told me was unbelievable, but still this low GBRS. WHy?

Based on this description, I would try the WISC and see what happens, and then if she is still found ineligible, then hope you get a better teacher in grade 3 and parent refer next year. You will have the opportunity to provide school-based work samples that way.

You would only know around March of 2nd grade ie. after the deadline for the AAP application for the schools which is at the end of February.

Is it possible to find out what the progress is in my child's GBRS if dc is still in 1st grade? Or do they make you wait until 2nd?
Thanks for any info you know!

Kindergarten. GBRS with commentary is done for 2nd graders in pool and for students referred for full-time Level 4 consideration.

I also mentioned it was a composite score, at our school they switch classes for math and reading and so all the teachers know the kids. I can tell you my childs profile- very polite and rule oriented, extremely smart, intellectually curious, mild mannered but not afraid to continue to the discussions, gets along well with kids and helps others out. Sort of a mini adult.

We are really proud of course but its just a score of advanced academic behavior in the classroom at a point in time. Its not their rating as an overall human being! LOL

My dd also got a 16. AART said it is nearly unheard-of, but judging from this board it's really not all that rare.

Do you think the GBRS really matters? I am confused. My kid got a 14 with a very nice write up. But her test scores were not high enough ....close but not 132. Her verbal score was excellent as was the quantitative...non verbal was only high average. I am not sure the GBRS helped although I do like everything they said about her. Curious, as to if others think it matters alot?

Centreville Elementary and DC got a 14. My kiddo is quite shy and wasn't one of the 'loud' kids. She also didn't have straight O's or anything like that. Mostly O's and G's, but a few S's, and even a couple of N's in the non-academic stuff like turning work in on time, being organized, etc.....
