It's not authentic and tastes bland. Lacks fish paste. If you like kimchee, you will be disappointed.

This is reminding me of my good friends upstairs during grad school. A Korean-American newlywed couple, but their families were from different parts of Korea. She LOVED kimchi in fried dishes or sometimes just fried by itself. He assured me that frying kimchi is an unacceptably country thing to do and below the taste of any decent refined person. Basically saying he'd married a Korean redneck. (All very much in good fun. And a good way to needle her since she was a beauty queen--never a hair or eyelash out of place.)
