Let me tell you guys, I am at Mason right now getting a part-time MBA. I am thinking about quitting the program since I only started and going to a much better program such as the one a VT-Pamplin or UMd. Smith....can I transfer or have I made a mistake I am commited to?

And average entering GPA is now 3.7. Our daughter had a 32 composite on the ACT.

Seriously as to GMU's computer science program go google it; robotics; engineering and college of game design. It's an amazing campus. The College of Game Design has a very impressive board of executive advisors - and collaborates with Univ. of Scotland in the same field - so the kids roll out with computer science and engineering degrees and snap up high tech jobs between McLean and Dulles

I agree that GMU is in the same category as UMd satelite campuses and UCF...but that's not really very impressive, is it? Actually it's kind of an embarrassing stat...

Actually I was informed by Institutional Reseacrh at GMU that the average GPA for GMU enrollees actually dropped from 3.6 to 3.3 for the Class of 2016, about the same as Old Dominion's which went up to 3.3.

James Madison and Va TECH are more like 3.9 or 4.0 using the same weighting.

Impressive for junior high school students maybe.

Based on what?

AS PP noted

GMU best comp sci and engineering

http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/james-madison-university-232423/overall-rankings#

Also GMU accepts less and the SATs are the same as close JMU

JMU 59.9% accepted
GMU 52.8% accepted

Silly rabbit:

1. You are the PP
2. Using Percent acceptance is silly - better students from HS apply to VT/JMU even if VT's acceptance percentage is 67%, JMU 59.9% and GMU 52.8% the real question is...who is applying? The valedictorian or the kid on academic probabtion?
3. SATSCORES.US is not an official site. I checked Harvard's distribution and found its SAT to be below Davidson's last week...only to find the counselor said there is a 150 point difference in the actual numbers.
4. US News - those don't seem to be very impressive rankings to me....why not find rankings that actually compare GMU and JMU/VT

Try these:

or These:
http://www.forbes.com/top-colleges/#page:1_sort:0_direction:desc_search:_filter:All%20states

Or These (for an example of how the predominate major at all three schools ranks):

Hope you learned something today dear.

GMU is better for academics. But for a good time, JMU wins by a mile.

Dunno about GMU. Honestly I was Surprised they offer 4 year degrees at all,

Come on Grandma. I want my computer back.

ROFLMAO! Thanks for the laugh. I am sure GMU is better than JMU, VA TECH, UVa., and WM

GMU is better for academics. But for a good time, JMU wins by a mile.

Jmu has never been in the same category as uva or wm. As of the last 5 years Gmu is now a comparable to jmu and even tech. its not 1998 anymore, things have changed.

No one has argued that VT/JMU are the same level as UVA/WM...

The first 2 are near the bottom of the nations top 30 or so state colleges while the last two are perennially at the top.

VT/JMU are and always will be runner up schools

Dunno about GMU. Honestly I was Surprised they offer 4 year degrees at all,
