Yes, but a whole cup size or cup and a half different? That sounds like a lot. No one is talking about getting "big fake cans". It's not like the daughter is trying to be Pam Anderson.

There's a big difference between being a grown woman with post-baby boobs - and frankly not giving a sh*t what anyone thinks about my boobs - and being a young woman who probably has not even been naked yet in front of a boy. The daughter has a self image problem - but it sounds legit. This will help her be more self-confident with boys - and learning about dating, romance and possibly sex are all things she needs to do now as a young woman.

It's a decision that effects her health. Breast implants are not 100% safe. My friend that got them also could not nurse her children. There are a lot of things a 17 year old is not staring in the face. I know many grown women that would never have gotten them in the first place.

OP, I would never allow it to just enhance what she's got.

But in this case, it is correcting a cosmetic problem. I would allow it. And I don't even allow ear piercing!

I obviously don't know if that's the case for your daughter, but that is not generally true.

Ditto to above at 20:41. Ol' Fred has always been more ambitious than ol' George, and now that I'm 6 mos. pregnant the difference is pretty hilarious-- I think Fred achieved a D cup this week, which is a record in my family. (That was my first symptom of pregnancy: my right nipple kept popping out of my bra. How classy!)

Hubby doesn't care, and it's not that difficult to hide in the right business clothing. If I didn't have asymmetrical breasts to worry about, then some other aspect of my body would be the source of insecurity.

My breasts are uneven. Probably an A and a B+. I was pretty self-conscious, but it never stopped me from having boyfriends and honestly after I met my husband I never thought about it! I married when I was 26 and had two kids and recently (I am 40) I was getting dressed and I remembered that I used to think about my breasts being two different sizes! It had been that long since the thought had entered my mind. After breastfeeding my kids they are both so deflated that they are hardly different now.

I agree with the PP who brought up birth control pills. Is she currently on a hormonal pill? If not, I'd wait and see how things are after a year on one (which she should certainly be taking if she is going off to college and considering sexual activity).

I know two people that had reductions and both have significant scaring. Neither regrets their surgery in the least but for a body conscious teen, certainly being aware of the scaring is important.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

Your daughter might be self-conscious with a boyfriend due to the size difference between her breasts. But mightn't she also be self-conscious about the scarring? The scarring from a reduction is quite extensive and I think less likely to be overlooked than a size difference.

Sometimes women can't breastfeed after a reduction. If the other breast hasn't grown enough, it might not produce milk, either. (I'm not saying small breasts can't product milk, but hypoplastic breasts might not.) A friend of mine has this - one breast bigger than the other - and only the bigger one produces milk. So your daughter might not be able to breastfeed.

Also, you're contemplating general anesthesia. Some people, without previous risk factors, do die from general anesthesia. Is this a risk you and her father are comfortable taking? I ask if the parents are comfortable, because you are the adults who will have to give medical consent, but also because teenagers, as a rule, never think the negative possibility will materialize.

Finally, OP, I am struck by your use of the word "corrected" in your original post. That word implies that something is wrong with her current body state, and that it needs fixing. It might be more healthful for everyone to focus more on just accepting that nobody's body is perfect, and that breasts, just like ears and noses, come in different shapes and sizes.

I wouldn't worry about them being too small after a one sided reduction either. Again, why put in a foreign body that you don't need and may cause problems later. A reduction won't cause scaring around an implant that will mostly likely happen and can get misshapen, and warped (I have them and it has happened).
Also, smaller breasts look more youthful as you age. She doesn't want to look like all matronly before she's 40 or 50.
