Book it with your maiden name and then change your passport after the trip.

The only place that might need to see your drivers license is a rental car agency. They won't care about the name you used on your flight.

I screwed this up and had tickets in married name and passport in maiden name. I showed additional ID when leaving the US, but never had any other problems. I was a wreck though. Definitely book them the same and avoid the stress.

I have traveled internationally extensively and this has never, ever, happened to me. If your passport is valid then that is all you need. The name on your ticket has to match the name on your passport. It's as simple as that.

FWIW I changed my name on my passport after I got married. They don't give you a new passport, they just staple an "amendment" somewhere in the book. I had to go through the process each time I showed it to educate the person looking at how the passport matches my ticket. I was thankful when I got to renew my passport that I wouldn't have to go through that anymore.

This will not work so don't attempt it. Passport and ticket have to match so go with whatever is on your passport.

I did this a bunch of times. My passport was the only official doc I didn't change to my married name. I booked my intl tickets as my name appeared on my passport and never had any issue at all. I never carried my marriage certificate, but after I had children I always carried their birth certificates, just in case. I know a woman who retained her maiden name who had trouble leaving SE Asia one trip bc her daughter had a different last name than her, and she lost the birth cert somewhere along the way...
