This is good advice. Definitely try a variety of meetings because the feel of a meeting can depend on what kinds of folks go there regularly. And remember, you don't have to find answers right away. Just go and listen to other people's experiences and share yours when you're ready. Good luck!

Thanks so much PP, do you know if there are certain Al Anon chapters in the DC area that are more recommended than others? I realize I can't change my DH at this point, I can only change myself and my outlook and my life choices... So I'd be inspired to hear some positive examples of how people have escaped from this vicious cycle.... I am so over it.

Yes, it's the right place to be for someone in your situation. Frankly, I think it's the only place you will find real help (help for you, it's about your recovery and serenity whether the alcoholic is still drinking or not).

Hey ladies - so I'm a DW who drinks a few glasses of wine a week - and have found out my DH has been drinking in secret from 2 pm.. on during weekdays and even drunk drove.... he won't go to AA...what do I do? It's been back and forth drinking/alcholism for many years, and he refuses to acknowledge he has a problem....I guess it is time to go to Al Anon....how useful are Al Anon meetings, anyone been there?
