OP. We learn first, walk the walk, and then convert. So start shopping for a shul. Find one that works for you. Start attending, and then talk to the rabbi about the next steps.

In fact, the opposite is true. In the UK, for example, Orthodox rabbis (and the community there is mostly Orthodox) discourage conversion just for the sake of marriage because they consider that to be a weak motivation-- and one that may not stand the tests of time and inevitable tensions. It's a different story when the prospective convert can discuss a spiritual interest.
