I'm a scream sneezer. If I can feel it coming on you bet i will manage it and it'll be quiet. But sometimes I can't help it and its very quick. If there is follow on ones I will manage to not be loud. It's embarrassing but at least my husband is used to it. My grandmother used to be a very loud sneezer too and it scared me when I was little.

My step-father is also a LOUD scream-sneezer, like hurt your ears loud. When my kids were younger, it would scare the crap out if them. I even think he made one cry one time. Kind of funny when I think back on it. And I too wonder why he can't muffle them better. This thread has been illuminating.

I do scream sometimes and I SWEAR I try to control it. I am able to control it sometimes, specially if I feel it coming or if it's not that strong of a sneeze. But if it's one of those strong ones that catch me off guard, I just can't control it. And it's really annoying and embarrassing.

My MIL is a loud sneezer and it's for attention. I don't acknowledge it.

My husband does this. It is actually so loud that it hurts my ears if we are close to each other (like in the car). He also claims he is unable to control it.

I am naturally a very loud sneezer too! If I am at home i don't control it as feels better and is a bigger relief to just sneeze naturally. I can control it to some degree though and probably 90% of the time when I am out in public, I muffle it or try to reduce the volume down. Occasionally a loud one sneaks out or I don't get prepared in time to control it. Sneezing loudly in public is embarrassing.
Op if you have time to get a kleenex out then you have time to control it.

I get that the sneeze comes on suddenly, so it might be hard to control the first one, but since they come in 3s, have you ever tried to control the 2nd or 3rd? Maybe start there and practice that, and eventually you will be able to eliminate the scream from all 3.

This seems relevant to this thread. My husband is the same way when he sneezes. Swears he can't control it.

Both are annoying, but at least I get mine out of the way in one blast.
Yea, but do you have to add your voice behind in it?

My mom is a scream sneezer too- you can actually hear the word "achoo!" I used to think it was so weird and then I caught myself with some very loud sneezes and I got older. I do try to control it if I feel it coming but it sometimes takes me by surprise.

I have never heard someone do this!
I dislike it when people muffle it so that it comes out in a high-pitched squeak.
