Why was the kid talking in the first place about GOP candidates?

I am sure he was making an implicit claim that GOP candidates are great.

And the teacher just corrected that false impression.

This kids parents, should realize that public schools are RUN BY THE GOVERNMENT. And if the GOP nut jobs have their way, they would outsource this to private enterprise, at minimum wage. Romney would think this is 'marvelous'

Hopefully the kid took this lesson to heart.

The student was disabled. Too often such kids are picked on by teachers. I wonder if that played any part?

How about the teacher give out a lesson on what happens in a purely liberal environment which is bankrupt and continues to increase taxes vs a conservative environment with surpluses and low taxes?

I did not click on the link because I don't believe a thing they say on Fox news or any other Murdoch outlet. I do know most school have mock debates and discuss politics in middle school classes. Usually both sides are presented with students saying what their parents think. Teachers try to get students to defend their views with research. Did the teacher do this on both sides? That is typically what I see in the classroom.
