I think every mom things her BABY is the cutest -- to the point where some try to get postpartum nurses to agree that he/she is the cutest they’ve ever seen -- but I have seen reality set in as well. Typically it happens after the not-so-cute baby gets a bit older and turns into at least an average child; the mom will often admit that the kid was not so cute when they were a baby, whether it was due to being too chubby or not having a cute face or a birth mark that used to be very prominent or whatever, and they’re glad that he/she turned out ok looking. I see nothing wrong with that objectively as it is at least realistic, though if the child knows/hears this, then you’re opening up a whole new set of issues. And let’s be honest, in teens and adulthood, certain moms often lose any ability to see their kids (esp. daughters) as cute -- all they can do is criticize.

My kid is very cute. Objectively. Has had a modeling contract at a major NY modeling agency since he was 6 months old and was on a cover of a magazine at 7 months. Has been in a lot of ads. He is 4 yrs old now and we will be spending the summer in NYC for his work. So yeah, he's pretty cute.

I've had other parents tell me that one of my children is the cutest kid they've ever seen. Excluding their own of course. And weirdly, we have noticed that Asians seem to gravitate towards this kid, although he is blond/blue-eyed.

I actually think most little kids I see are cute. I very rarely see a kid and think 'wow, that kid got hit with the ugly stick.'

I am the South Asian PP who posted before, and I agree. I think I am particularly drawn to babies with darker features, but I have never thought that blond babies look sickly or creepy! Lots of my white friends have very, very cute babies!

Calm down, people are stating their preferences physically. No one is knocking any race. No one saying European or American. You seem to have taken it personally and started to make connections to foreigners, asians, AA. My god! I too don't find light skin people attractive but that's my preference...I'm a light skin person from south Asia and love darker complexion therefore married someone of darker complexion and behold got a beautiful olive skin child.

Yes, they all do. I'm a postpartum nurse, and I hear this constantly. Once some parents & grandparents tried to get me to say that their kid was the cutest I'd ever seen, and I gently reminded them that I had two kids of my own...

I think this sounds crazy, too, but my mom used to think that about my little brother when he was a toddler and young child. And guess what? Years later my mom was diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder and my little brother became a model. So she really was delusional and he was objectively, a very cute boy.

My father, who's now dead, used to always point out cute babies - but often found AA and African babies to be the cutest. In fact, the man who cared for him before he died is African, and his daughter is dark by our standards in the US. He adored her.

So if an old Italian can see beauty beyond skin color you should, too.

I have two. My son is cute, but my daughter, who's 7, is model gorgeous. She's been approached by scouts in NYC to model, in fact. no deal . . . She needs a childhood.

I know my love bias plays a role in it. It won't make a difference either way, even if my son's not the cutest, objectively, I will still think he is, but I was just curious how many parents think their kids are the cutest? But with her, it's 99% personality. She's a ham and not in a cloying or annoying way. It just shines through and makes her very appealing. I doubt she's actually any better looking than other kids (except in my eyes!).

I have one of those too. Everyone talks to her because she is (at 7,8,9 mos) trying to get people's attention by smiling and squealing. I think my first may have been cuter but number 2 has a ton of personality.

I guess Im odd I dont find many babies and kids to be adorable... cute, personable, funny, etc yes but honestly beautiful no.
