I am going to "bump" this article until Zimmerman is arrested.

The fact that Zimmerman is now nowhere to be found is scary. What if George Huguely had not been arrested right away? Don't you think his family would have spirited him away before being charged if they could have? I hope this man is brought to justice.

I didn't realize this happened on Feb. 26, so I agree it's odd the dude hasn't been arrested. I thought it happened in the last 24 hours. My mistake.

We have this little thing called habeas corpus in our country. Maybe you're unfamiliar with it?

You could argue police have sufficient cause to arrest him, I suppose, but he still has legal rights to make bail, etc.

In my experience, fanning the flames of public sentiment in sensitive cases doesn't assist the justice process.

The vigilante needs to be charged with stalking and a violent hate crime. With the instructions from the police not to follow the child, the perp clearly singled out this child and ignored the explicit instructions from the police because of the child's race. That makes this hate crime and that is a federal charge, not a local charge. And the bigot needs to be arrested and charged. If the locals will not do it, it needs to be a federal case.

He can CLAIM and mount any defense. He can claim insanity. He can claim self-defense. He can claim he wasn't there. He can claim double jeopardy. He can claim he's Santa Claus if he wants to. (If the defense is totally frivolous it will be struck, probably, before it gets to the jury). It's proving the defense that's an issue and whether a judge/jury will believe it. I can mount multiple, even conflicting defenses to a crime if I want to.

I"m not discussing guilt or innocence (although I believe he is guilty). My issue is that this POS hasn't even been arrested. In what world shouldn't this happen?

-He called 911 to report a "suspicious person"
-911 told him not to intervene and that police were on the way
-The man chose to exit his vehicle with his gun.
-An altercation enrsued (I can imagine that this teen told him to "eff off" which is probably what I would have told him. Blacks no longer need walking papers and we are free to walk wherever we please without having to explain our intentions to anybody).
-Somewhere in this altercation, the man pulled his gun and shot the teen

Again, in what world was this murderer not the aggressor?

I bet this gets swept under the rug with very limited public outcry because who in this country really cares that much about another dead black boy? I am so upset about this.

Is there a public outcry about this yet? A change.org petition for an arrest? What the gigantic F? Don't forget, in your outrage, to pray for the family of this child. I might try to send them a card. I can't bear to imagine anything like this. As a white parent of a white child, I don't face this particular fear (of my kid being fucking shot because he happens to be black!) and I can barely stnad to imagine what it must be like to worry about it. It makes me so sick! I am nearly in tears thinking of this. And the fury of the injustice is overwhelming.
