Not the OP, but I loved this chapter from The Tipping Point even before I had kids. I still haven't seen Blues Clues but think about that chapter often.
My 2.5 year old's favorites are: Max & Ruby, Backyardigans (kind of fast-paced, but with a linear plot and decent music), Thomas, Signing Time DVDs, Fraggle Rock (watches with her father), and unfortunately 20+ year old episodes of the Poky Little Puppy on YouTube.
