Hi-5!! They've pulled it off Discovery Kids, but we bought the dvds.

Sometimes they arew played in Gymboree stores. They are educational, gentle, and wonderful, and have very catchy music!

Plus, unlike the Fresh Beat Band, the actors are all quite talented!

Agree. DD LOVES Einsteins. And I actually feel like she's learning something as opposed to... Chuggington or Handy Manny or shows like that.

This is all our kids (2.5 & 4.5) are allowed to watch. They LOVE Little Bear.

I love Netflix instant streaming for 7.99 a month. Lots of shows and no commercials. My 3 and 5 year olds love:
Busytown Mysteries
Mighty Machines (39 episodes to pick from- it is not animated it shows people and machines at work in different settings)
Go, Diego,Go
Leapfrog phonics and math videos
Nature shows about animals, volcanoes, dinosaurs that are on Netflix

Mister Rogers is the calmest, gentlest show out there. My kids just loved it (as did I, because I remembered it from decades ago!) We record it off of WETA Kids. Looooooove WETA Kids.

OP here. We've tried Bob the Builder but it's the kind of thing I want to avoid. It's not slow paced at all--they don't show any task from start to finish, jump scene to scene, tons of movement, etc.


Eh, my son watches one or two episodes of it a week at most. I don't really find it that fast-paced. He also occasionally watches Thomas or Sesame Street. Frankly, he doesn't really seem to understand the plot of any of these shows. If I ask him about an episode after he watches it, he usually focuses on something bizarre that was completely tangential to the plot.

Not the OP, but I loved this chapter from The Tipping Point even before I had kids. I still haven't seen Blues Clues but think about that chapter often.

My 2.5 year old's favorites are: Max & Ruby, Backyardigans (kind of fast-paced, but with a linear plot and decent music), Thomas, Signing Time DVDs, Fraggle Rock (watches with her father), and unfortunately 20+ year old episodes of the Poky Little Puppy on YouTube.
