It's called trolling.

Sex. We're doing IVF and it's basically off the table for the next six weeks. Considering the confluence of the treatment/Lent I'm thinking this counts as a two-fer. Hoping for some good karma with the Baby J.

How is this different from a New Year's resolution?

Well, yes if you just spend the whole time whining about it instead of reflecting. You also don't have to give up anything really for lent. It's more about removing things that distract you from your spiritual life during a period of penance.

Thanks, PPs. You've just inspired me to give up yelling (hopefully for longer than Lent). I've found myself yelling at our kids 2-3 times a week, which is very unusual for me. There's been a lot of stress in our home due to unrelated family issues, and I think I've let the stress overflow. This thread inspired me to think about the problem. Thanks.

You are my Lent twin. I have a feeling I will fail miserably at not swearing.

I will also be fasting (one main meal and two very small meals and no meat) through lent. This may be a terrible idea for a former anorexic so it may turn into just giving up meat and attending daily mass three times a week.

DCUM. And other random Internet time-wasting.

And I'm really going to try to work on my spiritual life. As an adult "revert," I still struggle to have an intimate relationship with God. But I'm tired of the consequences of holding God at arm's length, and Lent is a great time to try to do better...
