2 kids about 8K each (ages 6 and 3). My financial planner wanted us to seed the account w/ more but for now it wasn't possible. We are trying to pay off the house faster and still contributing to our retirement accounts so we're planning but don't have any more to spare now.

My plan is to take an academic or university-based job once the eldest hits high school. Tuition is fully-covered. Ph.D. in popular field that won't earn me BigLaw money, but may erase the cost of college. It's flexible enough that I could be in the classroom or general administration.
Tough decisions ahead. We are not the typical DCUM demographic.
You can't rely on the free tuition, they have been eliminating this perk around the country. What if your kid doesn't want to go to the school you work for or doesn't get in

18 months, $10K. A lot of that is from gifts when she was born, however, so it's somewhat misleading.

I'm the employer-pays-half poster, and I'm at work so I feel weird posting name of employer, but it is a university, and I think it is fairly common for universities to offer a similar benefit, or to offer free tuition at that university. My son can't get free tuition at my university, but half at this one or any one. Pretty nice.
