I agree. I can smell when people don't air out their beds. Their bedrooms have a sour, musty, body odor that lingers.

The bed gets made when DH is out of town or when he wakes up early enough to allow me to make it.

That said, I have a housecleaner that comes once every 2 weeks and I LOVE it when SHE makes the beds.

I'm supposed to apologize because I have 2 non special needs children who make their own beds every day?

nope...but consider yourself damned lucky!!

Believe me, I do. And I spend all of 3 minutes on our bed. If you're cutting it that close in the mornings, just get up 10 minutes earlier.

It would take 3 lifetimes to get my kids to make their beds. 10 minutes earlier would only account for the yelling on MY PART once they ignored my first 89 instructions for them to make their beds. I wont do it for them. I do enough for them and if I do it ALL, they will end up being entitled, spoiled brats.

Are you sure they aren't already spoiled and entitled, since they would disobey your direct instruction? Do you have to yell at them to get them to do the routine household chores they do have?

Why do you care about the state of other people's beds so much? Or the mecahnics of other children's responses to their parents instructions?

If your child listens and obey's everything you tell them to do, I think they have issues.

The bed gets made once a week when the house cleaners come. Outside of that it gets made when guests come over. Like others, I think it a complete waste of time.

Other than the bed messy bed, you could eat off my floors. Dishes are always done and I vaccuum daily and mop the HW floors (entire main level) every other day. I also do a load of laundry each day, as to neve have a mountain.

I work full time, so the house MUST stay clean and orgainzed each night, as I don't have the time for marathon cleaning.

I don't make my bed. My parents never did and it seems unimportant to me. To each their own.

The best thing to do, actually, is to throw the covers and the top sheet over the baseboard as soon as you get up. That lets the bed air while you dress. The housemaid will make the bed while you breakfast.

I just pull up the covers during the week. I do make the bed when I'm visiting someone, though, or if anyone will see our bed.

Unmade beds = Healthier poster here. (And no, I am not a lazy slob. My house is clutter-free and clean. We turn down the duvets and top sheets half way, and fluff up the pillows in the AM. I am trying to convince DH not to pull the duvets up all the way.)

Untidy beds may keep us healthy
House dust mite
House dust mites are linked to asthma
Failing to make your bed in the morning may actually help keep you healthy, scientists believe.

Research suggests that while an unmade bed may look scruffy it is also unappealing to house dust mites thought to cause asthma and other allergies.

A Kingston University study discovered the bugs cannot survive in the warm, dry conditions found in an unmade bed.
