Person you two quoted here. It was the 2 to 4 hours of awake time, in the middle of the night with 2 young toddlers and a cranky day the next day with them, that I was concerned about happening if they had awoken during the 10 minutes. Sheesh.

OP:

1. You live in the city, not the woods
2. NYE is a noisy holiday
3. You get a day off to recover from the damage

Get over it.

If this was a daily or weekly occurrence I'd understand. But one night a year? Not a big deal, IMO.

We had fireworks and people shouting for around an hour last night. Not a big deal. We didn't hear a lot of sirens (we're near several major highways), which is good. I'd rather have fireworks and shouting then sirens.

funny. when I was a little kid, my mom would have all of the kids bang pots and pans outside the door at midnight on NYE. we thought that was the most fun ever! I guess OP would not like that.

I give my neighbors a pass on NYE. But they better watch out on 4th of July!!

If it was every night then I could see complaining. Otherwise, stay inside and make sure you put your big girl panties on. Everything will be ok OP.

Even I, the neighbor all the young renters hate because I call the cops about noise on a regular basis... even I gave people a break on new years.

It's NYE. Lighten up. I think when I had an infant I *might* have been almost as annoying as you, OP. Your perspective will change when you have the rowdy kids who will love the opportunity to whoop it up at midnight on NYE.
