7:30pm. One kid already in bed, the other bathed, fed and in jammies..........it's a long day.

Most days by 6. occasionally by 4 (but he then works from home for another 6-8 hours). About 2x/week it's more like 8 pm.

I work, handle pick-up from 2 schools, handle all homework, bath, dinner, and bed before DH waltzes in a 8 pm. Sometimes he has been at the gym or Starbucks that day, and I just want to kill him because my life doesn't premit taking 5 minutes for myself. It sucks. I hate it.

Oh, wow. This really sucks and doesn't seem fair. Why do you put up with this? I would have a serious sit down with my DH if this was my life.

Do you let your DH know how you feel?

It's very tough, especially when kids are young. You really have to make an effort and carve out the time. Take your time because it certainly changes things!

We live in herndon, dh has a 10 minute commute. He is
always home by 6. I wouldbe certifiable if I wohm and then
had to do pickup/dinner/bath/bed solo.

7-7:30 - pre-kids it was usually 8-8:30. He was really good at being home by 5-6 when our kids were infants though when I REALLY needed a break.

Between 7-8, depending on which train he takes. 1 hour 20 minute commute door to door. DOJ. GS-15.

Also Marine Corps Reserve duty, which is a LOT more than "one weekend a month," especially with continuing education.

We both work. I'm home by 5pm -5:30pm, after picking DD#1 from daycare. DH is home at 6pm every night without fail. He does drop off and leaves at 8am. We both make mid 100s and have a 30 minute commute from the city. Neither of us stay at the office late. If we need to do work after the kids are in bed, we get it done at that time.

I wonder this too. But then again my neighbor is a SAHM and her DH is home BY 4:30 each day. I am always jealous because when he pulls up I know I've got 2 hours left. He doesn't leave that early either...around 7:30.

Both DH and I work normal hours and live in the burbs. We live in Loudoun County and work in Fairfax County, our commute is around 30min. I'm home earlier than DH, and after picking the kids up at daycare pull into the driveway just before 5PM. We both leave around the same time 7:30 (elementary here starts at 7:40) and I get into work just after 8AM. When the kids were not in school, I did not leave the house until closer to 9, as my work is flexible and I only need to work as my work load dictates, no one watches when I come and go.

Depending on if my DH is working on proposals, often he works less then 40hrs a week. He could support our family, but there is no way in hell we would drop down to one income in this job market, additionally, since I really only work around 35hrs a week, I have no desire to quit my job.
