Santa doesn't leave gifts under the tree. Santa fills the stockings. There might be a a few things that don't fit in the stocking, but those are carefully placed next to the stocking. Gifts that are under the tree are wrapped, but they are from family - not Santa.

Santa wraps in his own special paper and the gifts are left under a second tree near the fireplace. Both sets of grandparetns also send gifts with Santa on the label so we have to check everythign they sens so that they can be rewrapped or have the tag changed back to Grandma

Santa wrapped when they were younger and believed. Sometimes he borrowed some of my extra paper. I wrapped batteries and added them to stockings.

I miss those days and years.

Our Santa does not wrap. Every thing is charged/batteried/out of the box/ready to play with. They are not placed there until after the kids are asleep though.

PS..sometimes I review the instructions so I can be an expert in figuring the thing out too.

How true. I will say, though, that not wrapping IS more eco friendly!

My parents always wrapped Santa gifts, but DH's did not. DH converted me.

Santa only brings stocking stuffers and one -maybe 2- gifts. the rest are from mom/dad. This is for several reasons: 1) I don't want Santa getting all the gift credit, and 2) it's easier to explain things like Toys for Tots (DC asked very early on why those were necessary if Santa brought gifts for all kids).

Gifts from Santa are absolutely wrapped in a paper that is different from all the others (usually just a green or red, with a big bow) and it has the same tag every year (a Santa tag that my Step-FIL wrote the to/from).

This thread reminds me of the flush or toss your tampon thread - it is such a personal thing that you assume everyone does it the same way and are shocked to learn about how the other half lives.

FWIW I wrap (and flush).

If I didn't wrap everything, my DS would come screaming into my room at 6am on XMAS Day to tell me all about the awesome toys Santa left him. I wrap them all in different paper and let him open his stocking so I won't have to get up at the crack of dawn.

I never in my life heard of presents under the tree not being wrapped!!!

We don't wrap. Santa leaves the gifts by the fireplace, set up and ready to play. The kids are SOOOO excited to see the Santa gifts as they tear down the stairs. All other gifts are unwrapped on Christmas Eve but NOTHING beats Santa excitement.

And no wrapping means I get some sleep!

No wrapping here either. DH and I both grew up with displays of presents from Santa and wrapped presents from others. Santa always alternated the side of the tree for me and my brother every year. In fact, we were convinced that the one on the right side of the tree always got the most presents every year. Our kids have enjoyed doing it this way so far. They come down and immediately start playing with the few things from Santa and then when we're all ready we start handing out and unwrapping presents. Obviously this requires hiding the presents from Santa until the kids go to bed on Christmas Eve.

Santa doesn't wrap. And Santa only brings large or oddly-shaped presents. Everything else comes from us. So most gifts are wrapped, with a few special ones from Santa that are put out when kids are asleep.
